Rebecca Nitkin
Rebecca Nitkin focuses her practice in the area of criminal defense. Ms. Nitkin received her law degree from Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law in 1991 and joined the firm in 1993. Since that time, Ms. Nitkin’s practice has been devoted to the defense of individuals charged with violating laws before the State and Federal courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Ms. Nitkin has handled capital murder cases and numerous high profile cases, appearing as a guest on the Today Show, Good Morning America and Court TV.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Nitkin obtained her master’s degree in Social Work from Boston University. A native of New England, Ms. Nitkin worked in the Boston community for three years before accepting a position with the Prince George’s County Department of Social Services as a Child Protective Services investigator. While working for Prince George’s County, Ms. Nitkin attended law school at Catholic University, with aspirations of further assisting those in need.
Ms. Nitkin most recently was appointed to be the Chairperson of the Montgomery County Bar’s Nomination Election Committee and is the former Co-Chairperson of the Criminal Section of the Montgomery County Bar Association for which she was nominated, “Chairperson of the Year.” Ms. Nitkin is on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorney’s Association. She is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Women’s Bar Association of Montgomery County and the Maryland State Bar Association. In addition, Ms. Nitkin is involved in community service programs, including her organization of the "Prepare for Success" program which assists high school females with college and career preparations. This program recently won two awards, one from the Maryland State Bar Association for “Best Service to a Public Project” and the other from the Montgomery County Bar Association. Ms. Nitkin also provides free legal counseling through the Legal Call Back Request Program for the Commission for Women's Counseling and Career Center. Ms. Nitkin is a member of the Prince George’s County Bar Association, the Executive Committee of the Montgomery County Bar Association and has been nominated as a member of the Montgomery County Bar Leaders.
